Mango

Mango

Mango – common name of the tropical plant Mangifera indica, and its fruit. It is a tree belonging to the Anacardiaceae family, originally from India and cultivated in all tropical areas.

The fruit is ovoid, has a yellow / orange pulp, compact, very fragrant and tasty.

Ripe mango is generally sweet, although obviously the flavor and texture vary according to the cultivar. Some have a soft and pulpy consistency, similar to that of a very ripe plum; others have a more solid consistency, such as that of a melon or an avocado.

For the consumption of cooked unripe fruits, the mango peel can be left on the fruit, although there is the possibility that it causes dermatitis on the lips, teeth and gums in sensitive subjects [9]. In ripe fruits that must be eaten fresh, the peel can be hard and bitter, so it is generally not consumed, although in some varieties it is possible to consume it.
