Lemons

Lemons

Lemon (Citrus limon (L.) Osbeck) is a fruit tree belonging to the Rutaceae family. The common name lemon can refer to both the plant and its fruit.

According to some genetic studies, lemon is an ancient hybrid, probably between pomelo and cedar, but for centuries it has been an autonomous species, which reproduces by grafting and cutting.

Although the origins of the lemon are uncertain, the first places where it was grown are thought to be China, where it was grown before the Song dynasty (960-1279 AD), the Indian region of Assam and northern Burma.
